Firsts grab two bonus points away to Suttonians RFC

Two late tries both well converted by Chris Jebb gave Clon a deserved pair of points against a strong Suttonians XV. The final score in a free flowing game was 34-41 to Suttonians who started the stronger. Their sturdy Samoan centre Henry organised their backs very well and they ran in two tries in the first fifteen minutes but a pair of penalties by Chris and a well taken try by Bruiser kept Con in the game. Half time Clon trailed 27-13. An excellent try by our Captain Neil Finlay brought us back to 27-20. The try was set up by a lovely cross field kick from Chris to Mousie who gained 45 yards before being tackled just short of the line. Suttonians came back soon after with a try under the posts. Ten mins later they added an other try to lead 41-20. Lesser teams would have fallen away then but to their credit our Clon boys came back and Jebber scored out wide and then converted to leave score at 27-41. All the pressure was with Clon and Bobbie fought his way over for final try, converted by Chris. Time ran out for Clon who are in the ascendancy but a valuable pair of points well earned. Next Sunday we are at home to Coolmine at 1.30 & 3.00 for Seconds & Firsts. Get up and support your team.
