Tim O’Connor – Past President of CRFC – RIP

It is with the utmost sadness that I have to let you all know of the death of Tim O’Connor who died today, 6th May 2017, after a determined and resilient battle against illness. Tim was one of our club’s earliest members and from the time he joined in the mid 1970’s he was involved at many levels in the club. Tim was a speedy winger in our early years and contributed hugely during our move from Moyle Park College to our current grounds at Kingswood. Tim also served as general Committee member, Club Secretary, Club Treasurer and Club President. Most recently Tim was involved in club fundraising and management of our clubhouse. Although Tim worked tirelessly for our club, he was happiest watching matches and seeing new players shine on any of our senior teams. Tim was also a long time friend to some in the club outside club business but he was also a friend of the Club and all its members. Our club was enhanced by Tim’s commitment and love of this club and we should forever be thankful that we were allowed to share in his passion for rugby during his time with us. Although a proud Munster man Tim was also a great lover of Leinster Rugby and was a stalwart in ‘The Beggars’ after many Ireland and Leinster matches. May I take this opportunity to offer our condolences to his wife Catherine and their children Katie and James. Details of his funeral arrangements are as follows: Removal from family house on Monday evening next to the Church and funeral Mass on Tuesday at Church of the Three Patrons, 48 Rathgar Rd, Dublin 6.

May he Rest in Peace at last, he will be missed more than he would ever have realised.
