Clon Represented well at Citywest Challenge
Article by Conor McAuley (ghost written by Murts)A number of Clondalkin RFC players took part in the Citywest Tri-athlon Challenge last Monday night with Derek Murtagh and Chris 'Farmboy' Kelly claiming second and third place overall respectively. The event which consisted of a 2k row, a 10 mile cycle and a 3 mile run was open to all comers with over forty people participating.
Murtaghs time of 1 hour 4 mins was well off the pace of the overall winners time of 57 minutes who is a Polish trathlon champion but was a great time nonetheless given his current injury setbacks. Kelly finished seven minutes behind Murtagh but was a credit to the club by claiming 3rd place overall. Murtagh had this to say to clondalkinrugby.com "Coming back from a stag at the weekend is not ideal preparation for an event like this so i will be aiming to improve my time by a good bit in next months event so we'll see where that leaves us". Kelly had this to say on his 3rd place "I was going well throughout the row and cycle but just blew up on the run so have to be happy with my placing".
Clondalkins top three times are as follows:
1: Derek Murtagh 1 hr 4 mins
2: Chris Kelly 1 hr 11 mins
3: Brian Doyle 1 hr 15 mins
