It is both a privilege and an honour to serve as President of Clondalkin Rugby Club for the 2026/27 season.
I became, and remain, a proud Clonette in 2011 when I joined the women’s senior team. With no previous rugby experience, I was immediately hooked from my very first training session, not only by the game itself, but by the people who make this club so special. What started as an introduction to rugby quickly became a passion, and over the years Clondalkin RFC became much more than a club, it became a second home.
That sense of community has never been more evident to me than over the past few years. Following the loss of my husband, Mick, in 2024, I experienced firsthand the kindness, friendship and support that exists throughout this club. The compassion shown to me during one of the most difficult periods of my life is something I will never forget, and it reinforced what I have always known about Clondalkin RFC. We are more than teammates and members; we are a family.
Although I retired from playing in 2021, my connection to the club has never diminished. The friendships, memories and sense of belonging that I found here continue to be a huge part of my life, which makes it especially meaningful to now have the opportunity to give back in the role of President.
Clondalkin RFC has always been about more than rugby. It is a community built on respect, inclusion, teamwork and friendship. Every week, players, coaches, volunteers, parents, sponsors and supporters contribute to making our club a welcoming and thriving place for people of all ages and backgrounds.
This is also a particularly exciting time in our club’s history. Following our move from Gordon Park to Baldonnell Farm, we are in the midst of building our new clubhouse. This project represents much more than bricks and mortar; it is the result of years of dedication, vision and hard work from countless members who have helped bring us to where we are today. As someone who found a second home in Clondalkin RFC, it is especially meaningful to see our club creating a new home that will serve generations of players, members and supporters for years to come.
As we look ahead to the 2026/27 season, I am excited to support every section of our club, from our youngest players taking their first steps in rugby to our senior teams competing on the field. Together, we can continue to build on our proud traditions while creating new opportunities and lasting memories for future generations of Clonettes and Clondalkin RFC members alike.
Thank you to everyone who gives their time, energy and commitment to our club. Your dedication is what makes Clondalkin RFC such a special place.
I look forward to meeting you all throughout the season and sharing in what I hope will be another successful and enjoyable year for our club.
