Bank of Ireland sponsorship of Leinster Rugby launched at Clondalkin RFC

bo13The Club were delighted to host Leinster Rugby and Bank of Ireland on Wednesday 27th August for the announcement of the sponsorship extension from Bank Of Ireland that will support Leinster Rugby, both the professional and domestic game over the next 5 years.

Clondalkin are the current Leinster Junior Club of the Year, and it was quite fitting that the announcement for the support of the domestic game, happened at a Junior Club.
The club has over 350 active members, 4 men’s senior teams, 1 Women’s Team, and vibrant underage section from under 6s to under-19s, and are rolling out our Girls underage section this season.

The domestic game, is the lifeblood of the game and Bank of Ireland’s  support is critical to developing and expanding the game, particularly here in West Dublin.boi2

The extremely successful Leinster CRO,  CCRO and CDO programmes  are a  crucial part of underage player and coach development and this has allowed the Club to touch every school in the area, which has increased our membership numbers year on year.

The key ethos of the club, is about participation, both at underage and senior level, and the club strives to find a place for all.

It was particularly fitting that Bank of Ireland decided to host this launch in Gordon Park as the grounds are named after one of the Club’s founding members and two-time President, Paddy Gordon.

Paddy was the local Bank of Ireland Branch Manager whose vision and foresight, seeing the lack of facilities for the youth of Clondalkin 40 years ago, put together a group of like-minded people, the finance and structure to allow the Club to purchase the grounds and to whom we will be forever indebted.

The Club would like to thank Leinster Rugby and the attending players, Jamie Heaslip, Rob Kearney and Sean O’Brien who where fantastic with the kids yesterday.
