The Leinster Branch are looking for persons interested in taking up refereeing and are organising a series of courses for those interested.
Clondalkin RFC has always had a very strong referee presence in the Leinster Branch and we would like to see this continue. This opportunity is open to both male and female members who are interested.
There will an Affiliate Referee course for anyone wishing to get involved in Refereeing in Mullingar Rugby Club on Tuesday 25th February 2014 at 7.00pm.
For anyone who is interested please contact Club President Tom Duffy at tom@libratrans.com.

Pathway to Becoming a Referee
Step 1
Become an Affiliate Referee. Affiliate referee may referee a match that involves his affiliated club either at home or away, but may not referee a fixture that does not involve the club he is affiliated to.
A person wishing to become a affiliate should be over 18 yrs old and have interest in becoming a referee, must attend a affiliate referee course approx 2.5 hours and a knowledge of the laws of the game of rugby would be an advantage.
Once attending the course and becoming an affiliate referee that person will then be appointed by his club to referee fixtures when no official referee is appointed for that game.
Trial Referee
Once an affiliate referee has gained adequate experience he/she will be invited to attend a Trial Referee course approx 4.5 hours. When this course is completed the affiliate referee becomes a Trial Referee and may be appointed to referee fixtures by the local referee association Association of Referee’s Leinster Branch, (ARLB). When he/she has gained more experienced they will be accessed and will be given a trial fixture, depending on the outcome of the trial game they either become a referee or be left as a trial referee to gain more experience.
