In spite of our gallant women XV narrow defeat by Suttonians in the Flood Plate final in Donnybrook on Saturday the rest of the results were all very positive for Clondalkin Rugby.
Our Third XV led by Delano showed tremendous grit to win a thriller against a determined Terenure team in the Final of the Metro 10 League. The final score of 32-26 justified the high hopes the club had for this team this season. Well done to all the coaching staff and players for a brilliant season.
Then on to Sunday our Second XV took on Gorey RFC in the semifinal of the J2 Plate. Clon started well and went 10-0 up in the first half but Gorey powered over for a good try after Clon messed up a line out . Into the second half both teams scored and the lead for Clon was a tight 15-10 until the ever youthful Stevie Cunningham launched a beautiful drop to make it an eight point game. Both teams had chances for further scores but no further points were added and Clon held on to win 18-10. They now must prepare for a final v Ashbourne RFC.

Even though the Firsts season has concluded – having finished runners-up in Div 1B, we are still in with a chance of promotion. If Boyne RFC defeat Omagh RFC next Saturday promotion beckons for us.
