Clondalkin Rugby Club are delighted to announce the appointment of Darren Madden as Club Community Rugby Officer for the season. Darren is a product of our mini and youth programme and he has had a distinguished rugby career to date, representing the North Midlands at youth and adult level.

Darren currently plays with our senior men’s team and holds of Bachelor of Arts in Sports Coaching and Business. He will play a pivotal role in the development of our youth and mini programme through not only helping to increase rugby participation in schools with the aim of feeding players into our underage system, but also by getting more ball in hand time for our current underage players by partnering with schools in the area to deliver rugby classes.

Director of Rugby Derek Murtagh had this to say on the appointment: “Darren is a fantastic player and a great role model for our younger players both on and, more importantly, off the field and we are delighted with this appointment. Our senior men’s and ladies’ teams are both set for competitive league campaigns and our future success hinges on continually feeding players into these squads. Our mini and youth programme caters for over 250 players and the objective will be to double those numbers over the coming seasons. This investment shows our commitment to realise this goal. We wish Darren all the best for the season ahead.”
